Rule of the Bone #6
Papa Doc doesn't even go to the party and it shows that he would rather go out and make money on selling drugs then attend his sons birthday party. My first impression of Evening Star is that she just likes to party and wants to pretend she is a mother figure but in reality she is no where near it
Rule of the Bone #5
1) "Yeah, you should choose between me and Ken."
This is showing how Chappie has realized that even though his mother loves him, and she should love him more than anyone else, that's not the way the world works, because when it comes down to it, his mother will always choose Ken over him.
2)"I never wanted to be the big tough kid who ended up on the other side all by myself and unable to say Red Rover, Red Rover, let even the littlest kid in the schoolayard, let Chappie come over."
This shows how on the inside, Chappie is actually really insecure, and he doesn't want to be alone ever. He has this need to cling to people all the time.
3)"But now I was into accepting I-Self as I-Man would say and as a result I didn't give a flaying fuck what people thought when they looked at me."
Chappie has really matured at this point. He doesn't care people anymore because he's content with who he is, so he doesn't need anyone or their opinion anymore.
My Life
1. One coming of age experience for me is when my sister left for college. Now it doesn't sound like a big deal but i didn't know the impact she had on the our household. I didnt realize this but she help everything run smoothly. My sister would run errands, pick up my little sister when she needed a ride, and cook when my mom was running late. After she left for college 2 years ago, I had to take the responsibility put onto my shoulder. This was a coming of age experience because it showed me to grow up and not rely on other people all the time.
2. Another coming of age experience was getting my license. Even though i was able to leave and not have to wait for my parents to give me a ride to my friends house. What i didnt realize at first was if someone were to get into the car, their life would be in my hands and if i were to get into an accident and they got hurt nine times out of ten I would be guilty of putting them in danger because i wasnt paying attention or rather find a good song to play in the car. This freedom gave me a life changing experience.

Rule of the Bone #7
Man's inhumanity to man is when humans treat other humans with total disrespect or neglect, which I think should never happen if you have any morals what so ever. In the book, there are prime examples of man's inhumanity. Ken shows this by having sex with Bone earlier and then treating him with no respect. This is just cruel and nasty and should never be done. I couldn't imagine anyone I know doing that to someone they love or doing that to a step-son that your forced to live with. Also, when I-Man is shot because of the fact that he got the bed rocking with Evening Star. That was no real reason to kill a man over, and I think it immature and stupid. This shows how dumb humans can be, and how we sometimes don't think about the actions we do.
I believe that I-Man is ultimately responsible for his own death. He should have been smart enough not to have sex with one of his friend's chicks especially if they're in the same house separated by a thin wall. I-Man couldn't keep his sexual desires under control, and paid the price. But that wasn't the only event that caused the death of I-Man. Bone should have never told his dad. I think he doesn't have a strong enough connection to his father to have told him that and most likely if it was just one of Bone's friends he would of never said anything. Doc should have never got that mad, and tell someone to kill I-Man. If he really wanted to get revenge on I-Man, he would of followed I-Man out of the house and chased him down but instead his sexual desires get the best of him as well. Jason never should have shot and killed I-Man. It was never any of his business to get involved between the two men and their problems

Jamaica was based on fishing , hunting, and a small scale cultivation of cassaava, before Columbus found Jamaica which was in 1494. They disappeared in 70-80 years because of their contact with the Spanish which in time traumatized them. The Spanish used Jamaica for settlement in order to advance their conquest of the Americas. The British would later capture Jamaica in 1655, but the Spanish didn't really care. They gave very little to help support the conquest of their once settled partners. The British after settling down transported Africans over for their sugar plantations. The Jamaican colony depended so heavily on international trade that when the American war of Independence disrupted their trade 15,000 of slaves died of starvation.
I-Man and the Bong Brothers are similar in certain ways. They both ignore Chappie and don't really care for Chappie. Life with I-Man in his bus was a very chill life. They smoked a lot and grew vegetables. Life with the bikers was like Chappie didn't even exist. He felt secluded from the group, where I-Man treated him like family.
Haile Selassie- figure in both Ethiopian and African history. He is referred to as the returned Messiah of the bible. He led a future Golden age of eternal peace.
Rastafarianism- Believe in the judeo-christian God, Jah. True Rastas are believed to be immortal both spiritually and physically.
Bob Marley- Famous musician. Felt strongly about his beliefs.
Malcolm X- Stood up for black people's rights.

Rule of the Bone #1

Chapters 1-2 of Rule of the Bone really made me realize what the character will be like the rest of the story. Chappie seems like the kid that sat in the corner and no one would talk to because of the fact he is a little different then most or the one that would get picked on and finally snapped one day and became rebellious. I can see why Chappie is rebellious because of the fact that one day he might of just snapped from something happening at school or some major change in his life. But unlike most, Chappie is a little more extreme. It's okay to try different drugs once in a while, but then theyre people like Chappie who dont care about their bodies and do however many drugs they feel like to either get away from the world or do it for fun. That's pretty low if you're stealing from your own parents and then use the money just for weed that you don't even keep to yourself. However, he does show a sensitive side when he imagines coming home for Christmas. This I find kind of weird because Chappie goes from doing his own thing and considering himself a criminal to imagining coming home for Christmas with loads of presents for his mom and step-dad. I think Chappie is caught between living the life of a rebellion and a regular teenager. I really like this book so far because of the different writing style and storyline.
1.Four out of every 10 runaway children leave home at least three times.
2. Every year, more than one million children in the U.S. run away from home.
3. Kids as young as 10 are among the one in seven who leave their homes, although most runaways are between 15 and 17.
